Director, Praxis Corporate Finance Limited Director, Praxis Wealth Solutions Limited Ray has worked for 21 years in the Banking Industry. 10 years were spent in Dublin with Allied Irish Bank where his focus was primarily on Commercial and Private Banking. In 1996 he moved to Guernsey where he joined The Royal Bank of Scotland International (RBSI) and was a key member of the Corporate Banking Management Team. The last 6 years was a Senior Corporate Manager focusing primarily on Geared Investments and Geared Funds. Ray has a degree in Financial Services (BFS) and is a Member of the Irish Institute of Bankers (MIB). Ray is married with three children. Having played Gaelic football at County level in Ireland formed Guernsey’s first Gaelic football club who play competitively in a European League. He also formed the Irish Society in 2005. His other interests include golf, skiing, music and coaching children at football.

Director, Praxis Corporate Finance Limited Director, Praxis Fiduciaries Limited Director, Praxis Wealth Solutions Limited Educated locally, David has always resided in Guernsey except for two years spent working abroad in the mid-1980s. He began his career in the offshore finance industry in 1981 and after gaining experience with international accountancy firms and trust companies locally, he joined the corporate services operation of a leading Cayman Islands law firm in 1985. David completed his qualification as a Chartered Secretary in 1986 and returned to Guernsey in 1987, having also worked for several months with an international fiduciary services group in Hong Kong. He founded the offshore recruitment company OSA in 1987 before returning to the trust business in 1989 when he co-founded a private trust group in which a controlling interest was sold to a merchant bank in 1990. David became a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators in January 1997. David joined the Praxis Group in 1994. He is a Client Engagement Director and specialises in the establishment and ongoing administration of offshore fiduciary structures for private and corporate clients. He has also been responsible for the Group’s new business function since 1995. Over a period of twenty-five years, David has gained wide exposure to property funds, complex property investment and development structures, hedge funds, private equity funds, carried interest structures and employee share schemes, as well as to all aspects of private client work. Away from professional life, David is extensively involved in cricket administration and has been the Chairman of the Guernsey Cricket Board since 2004.

Raj trained and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Arthur Andersen in Glasgow specialising in personal and corporate tax. Following promotion to Tax Manager in 1996 he joined PKF in Glasgow gaining promotion to Partner in 1999. After 5 successful years he took the opportunity to pursue other commercial interests whilst still retaining his involvement in tax planning as a consultant for independent Scottish practices. Raj has particular expertise and interests within the property and entertainment sectors and has advised on a number of property development projects and continues to act for internationally based sporting personalities and musicians.

Born in South Wales, David moved to London where, in 1989, he began his career in finance with the accountancy firm Wilder Coe. He became a member of the Association of Taxation Technicians and qualified as an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Taxation in July 1993 before moving to Hereward Phillips (now Smith & Williamson). In 1998 David joined Deloitte & Touche in London as Senior Manager, in the Private Clients Department, advising high net worth individuals, owner-managed companies and non-domiciled clients. He went on to pass The Chartered Insurance Institute exams to obtain the Financial Planning Certificate. David was appointed as an Associate Director of the Praxis Group in 2001 bringing with him considerable tax expertise. He acts as the Group’s primary business development contact with UK-based professional advisors. Married with five children, David is an ex-rugby player and keen coach of his local junior team. When time permits he also plays golf and enjoys both following and playing football.

Director, Brittain Hadley Partnership (CI) Ltd. Director, Brittain Hadley Welling Director, Brittain Hadley Europa Sp. z o.o. Alan Fulford is a Chartered Building Surveyor and Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. He was elected President of the Building Surveyors Division of the RICS in 1995. His early career was spent as a planning technician as part of Melton Borough Council's local plan team. He returned to full-time education in 1976 and graduated from Leicester Polytechnic. Upon graduating from college he joined Hunter and Partners in London and then Welling & Partners of High Wycombe, where he set up the building surveying department. As a Partner in the firm from 1984, Alan was responsible for the design, specification and project management of numerous repair, refurbishment and new build contracts on a variety of residential, commercial and public buildings. He became Senior Partner in Welling Partnership in 1988 and in April 2000, formed Welling bps out of the existing London Docklands and High Wycombe offices of Welling Partnership. He became a Director of Brittain Hadley in Guernsey in March 2004. In July 2006 he established the Warsaw office of Brittain Hadley Europa Sp. z o.o. In April 2007 Welling bps re-branded as Brittain Hadley Welling. Alan has extensive experience of development and construction contracts and has acted as arbitrator and as expert witness. In 1999 Alan was elected to Wycombe District Council becoming Cabinet Member for Major Projects and Resources (2001 to 2003). In these roles he was responsible for establishing the vehicle for the £150 million High Wycombe town centre redevelopment project which is currently constructing a 600,000 square feet retail and leisure scheme anchored by House of Fraser and Marks and Spencer.

Property Consultant, Praxis Fiduciaries Limited Graham Hollingsworth is a Chartered Surveyor, with over 20 years experience in property consultancy and development. He is a Director of Brittain Hadley, a privately owned property consultancy company which was established in Guernsey in 1988. Graham is a Chartered Project Management Surveyor and Chartered Building Surveyor and is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Building. Graham was born in Guernsey and was educated at Elizabeth College prior to commencing his career in surveying. He obtained his degree of Bachelor of Science (with commendation) in 1981 and qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1984. He commenced his working career in London with the national firm Grimley and Son, and then returned to pursue his career in Guernsey. He has extensive property experience within the Channel Islands, throughout the UK as well as in France, Switzerland and Poland. He is a Property Consultant to Praxis Fiduciaries Limited, Guernsey and a Director of several offshore property structures that acquire, hold, develop and dispose of property. He is also a Director of several Guernsey based Property Investment Funds Graham has been a Director of a Guernsey based Captive Insurance Company since 2000.

Miles Dean
Tax Advisor

Managing Director, International Fiscal Services Limited

Miles joined International Fiscal Services eight years ago when the opportunity to broaden his specific international tax experience arose. Like his Chairman, Roy Saunders, Miles is the author of a number of both academic and practical tax books and regularly writes and lectures on a wide variety of international tax planning issues.

After completing his law studies at Leeds Business School, Miles joined a Trust Company as trainee tax advisor (after a year working on the trading floor at NatWest Markets in the City) which was where his passion for international tax planning was born. He has since become an active Member of the International Bar Association and is currently in the process of qualifying for Membership of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).

Miles foresees IFS reinforcing its position as a highly competitive player in the international tax market, and furthering its extensive client base of top-end blue chip clients. He feels strongly that IFS’ independent specialist approach to international tax sets it apart from its competition. However, his key concern is around the decreasing levels of professional privilege in the marketplace and the apparent high needs of tax jurisdictions to continue raising taxes.

Away from the office Miles enjoys spending time with his wife Rebecca and watching his two children Jimmy and Tommy grow up. He’s an avid supporter of Nottingham Forest and Yorkshire County Cricket Club and also enjoys hunting and shooting, going to the gym occasionally and eating out more so.

Director, Praxis Wealth Solutions Limited Steve is resident in Guernsey. After completing a degree in Statistics and Economics at Leeds University he joined an accountancy firm in London where he qualified as a member of the Chartered Institute of Tax and subsequently as a Chartered Accountant of the England & Wales Institute, of which he is now a Fellow. In 1994 Steve took up a post with a major fiduciary business in Hong Kong where he was a General Manager for four years, gaining exposure to a wide range of global corporate and individual clients. He then spent a further four years with Abacus in the Isle of Man where he was responsible for its early fund business as well as trust and company administration and business development for the fiduciary firm. Steve joined the Praxis Group in 2001. He is an Engagement Director with responsibility for a varied portfolio of clients and specialises in establishing and overseeing the administration of offshore fiduciary structures. A significant number of Steve’s clients are involved in property development, private equity funds, hedge funds and employee reward and share schemes.

Chris, a Chartered Accountant, is responsible for the development of the company as well as day to day operations. Prior to joining PFS he spent eight years at Close Fund Services Limited as Director of Finance and Operations where, in addition to operations, he implemented system changes, formulated business strategy and was responsible for client and business development. Chris also spent three years in the set up and administration of Bank Unigestion (Guernsey) Limited, a managed bank, and four years with KPMG, where he trained and qualified in their audit practices in Norwich and Guernsey.

Julia is responsible for the closed-ended fund administration practice, overseeing property and private equity funds. She has a BSc in Accountancy and Financial Analysis from Warwick University and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG in South Wales, before transferring to Guernsey with the firm in 1991. Julia joined Rea Brothers (Guernsey) Fund Managers Limited in 1993 where she became finance director. In 1996 she moved back to the UK and worked on a consultancy basis providing outsourcing accountancy services to both onshore and offshore companies. Julia returned to Guernsey in 2005 to take up a position as finance director at Close Fund Services Limited prior to joining Praxis in March 2007.

He was appointed a Director of PKF (Guernsey) Limited in 1997 and a director of Praxis Fiduciaries Limited in 2004. John is responsible for the administration of a portfolio of trust and company fiduciary clients and taxation services. John graduated with a BA (Hons) in Economics and Accounting from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1985 and went on to work as a senior accountant in Grand Cayman. John is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Taxation.

Ian has over 25 years experience in the financial services industry. The greater part of his career has been within the Stockbroking industry where he has worked with Quilter Goodison & Co, Grieveson Grant & Co and James Capel & Co, culminating as a Director of Allied Provincial Securities Limited. In 1996 he created Du Feu Asset Management Limited to focus on the concept of wealth management using a combination of investment and insurance expertise. Ian is Managing Director of Praxis Wealth Solutions Limited. He is a fully qualified member of the Securities Institute; has the full Certificate in Financial Planning qualification from the UK and the Guernsey Insurance Certificate. Married with three children, Ian’s interests include playing the guitar (still occasionally playing in his band in the UK). Ian is a keen skier, golfer, painter of watercolours, loves cooking, wines and DIY and having completed the London Marathon in 2002, reluctantly includes long distance running as a pastime.

After completing his PhD in retailing at Nottingham University, Simon joined PKF in 1992. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant with the firm in 1994, winning the prize for the highest scoring Channel Islands student in his final exams. Until recently Simon was the offshore representative to the Board of PKF (UK) LLP and a member of the Technical Sub-Committee of the Guernsey Society of Chartered and Certified Accountants. Since joining the firm he has been involved in many aspects of the offshore financial services sector, including trusts, open and closed-ended funds and regulated financial services businesses. Simon has served as a director of companies quoted on the Channel Islands Stock Exchange, Euronext and on AIM in London. He is also a director of several Guernsey companies, including a large private property company and the Guernsey Housing Association LBG. In this capacity, he has been responsible for managing many corporate and property transactions. Simon is a non-executive director of Sandpiper CI.

Fritha joined Praxis in 1999 after gaining a BSc (Hons) degree in Health Sciences at Queen Margaret University College, Edinburgh. She qualified as an Associate of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and became a team leader in 2002. In December 2004 Fritha returned briefly to the UK where she worked for a small property development and investment company before returning to Praxis in February 2006 on a contract basis dealing with projects. She rejoined the company on a permanent basis as a Client Relationship Manager in October 2006. Fritha became a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants in November 2007.

Simon was born and educated in Guernsey. After finishing his A Levels he joined BDO Reads and worked in their audit department for two years. In 2000 he moved to the fiduciary services department where he continued his professional studies qualifying as a Certified Accounting Technician and then as a Chartered Certified Account in 2003. In 2004, Simon joined Praxis as a Senior Trust Administrator, before becoming a Client Relationship Manager specialising in structures carrying out property development in the UK. Simon is married and enjoys running and sailing in his spare time.
